Poetry
ATHENALOGIA by C. A. Corbell
During two months in Athens, Greece, C. A. Corbell wrote this collection of poems chronicling daily sights and thoughts, musing on city and soul, evoking the oracular with lyrical surrealism, and invoking the creative-divine in humanity.
Amid the sprawling multi-verse of possible poetic utterance Corbell’s voice sings and searches, maintaining touchstones of lyrical craft and symbol that connect archaic mystery with urban modernity. The pilgrim’s path followed here leads not to anachronism but rather to a celebration of ever-unfolding sacred actuality, a recognition of the soul’s acropolis which can always be seen from the “gardens and garages where we gather.”
This stitched soft-cover book was hand-bound by the author in Washougal, Washington, USA. The book design is an hommage to similar gatefold soft-cover editions of modern Greek poets, and is printed on quality stock from Neenah Paper and Mohawk Fine Papers.
